THE GATELY/POOLE MEISNER (ATC) Program One Year Certification Program

National and International Master Acting teachers Kathryn Gately and Richard Poole are proud to announce the first Gately/Poole Acting Teacher Certification program. Over 400 hours of rigorous instruction integrates the disciplines of acting, voice, speech, movement, script analysis, characterization and period style. This advanced program will cover the entire canon of Sanford Meisner’s first and second year work, as well as the innovative techniques in advanced scene study and characterization developed by Kathryn Gately and Richard Poole over the last 30 years at:

· The Gately/Poole Acting Studio – its studio in New York, which trained 200 students each year in its professional program
· Two URTA/NAST schools – Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and Northern Illinois University
· The Gaiety School in Dublin, Ireland
· The Acting Intensives –held in alliance with the top industry agents and managers in NY, Chicago and
Los Angeles, including Innovative Literary Artists and Talent.
· AIA-The School for Film and Television - co-created the first 2 year conservatory training program in the country for Film and Television.

As an actress and a teacher, Ms. Gately was given the unique opportunity to train extensively under Sanford Meisner, and later William Esper. The value of apprenticeship in such training programs was essential to her development as a Master Teacher. Richard Poole and Kathryn believe that apprenticeship under a master teacher is vital. It allows instructors to gain the ability to understand the training within a larger context, and to expand their insight, ability and skills.

Mr. Poole believes that to train actors is an honor, a privilege and an art, that today’s acting students are complex and bring their own challenges, and the need for qualified and dedicated acting teachers, skilled in their craft, has never been greater.

Kathryn Gately and Richard Poole have had great success in training actors. Many of their students have won numerous awards and achieved significant recognition within the acting profession. Alumni include James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), Amanda Seyfriend (Dear John, Mamma Mia, Mean Girls, Big Love), Justin Mentell (Boston Legal), Kristin Davis (Sex and the City), Kevin Kilner (Dinner With Friends), Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives, The Producers, American Gangster), Marc Wolf (Another American Asking and Telling), Jordan Baker (Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women), Micah Alberti (All My Children, Wildfire), Kevin Chamberlain (Suessical, Dirty Blondes), and Logan Huffman (V). Students have consistently been nominated or received such awards as the Cannes Film Festival’s Palm d’Or, the Golden Globe, the Emmy, the Ace, the Obie, the Tony, the Drama Desk, the Outer Critics, the Joseph Jefferson, the Dramalogue, and the Pulitzer Prize.
